Use of Henna can lead to leukemia
Henna is an herbal element used in decorating women hands especially in India. But the bad news is Synthetic henna dye can cause acute myeloid leukemia, which is one type of cancer. According to a recent study, the possibility of being affected by leukemia is high in women as compared to men in UAE.
The possibility is approximately twice as that of men and this is due to use of henna dye. UAE University has conducted a research and has provided a note in the periodical Leukemia and Lymphoma that the tempo of acute myeloid leukemia, a deadly cancer of the blood as well as bone marrow was 93 % more among UAE women than men.
The research was conducted on 263 cases of myeloid leukemia and acute lymphoblastic leukemia for seven years. According to the result the major reasons of leukemia include contact with radioactivity, smoke, age and hereditary disorders. Though, it remains very exceptional. Chemicals in henna dye, which is used to embellish the body, as well as deficiency of sunlight, could be a reason of increased occurrence.
